RECIPES!!
1.This is a recipe that I love and I use on my face every other nite before bed. I have that combination skin so I try not to use too much of anything on it...even natural products. But during the winter when we are burning wood in the house my dry skin needs a little something. This is super simple and lasts forever b/c you only need a tiny amount to cover a large area. If you have the kit all 3 of these oils are included!
2. This is a great recipe for when you are having one of those "blah" days. My suggestions: take a good hot bath or shower, slather your tootsies with this cream and relax on the couch with a cup of tea:) Give the cream some time to absorb into your body and work its magic:)
3. This is one that most EO users love to use in place of regular hand soaps you find in the stores. It lasts AND it smells great!! Oh, and all the ingredients are ones you can pronounce!
4. When it comes to beauty, I prefer the minimalist approach. I hardly ever wear makeup but there are those rare occasions when I actually get to get out of the house and play dress up. I use the most natural products I can afford, but when it comes to taking that stuff off, I use my own remover...THIS cream remover actually. Not only does it get the makeup off...my skin feels so soft afterwards. Super simple and effective. Bonus recipe to make your own makeup wipes!!
5. More than myself, I care about the health of my little ones. They are the most important thing in my life and I want to do whatever I can to ensure their health and safety. I toyed around with a few DIY baby wash recipes and came up with my own. You can certainly search online to find one that you like, however I am going to show you here the recipe I choose. It was inexpensive (I got all ingredients at Target and I spent under 30$...already had the coconut oil at home). It takes about 5 minutes to make a few batches and should last you a good while depending how much you use. A little goes a long way!
Ingredients: 1/4c Dr. Bronners Hemp Baby Pure Castile soap
1/4c Organic Coconut oil (or any carrier you like...avocado oil, jojoba, vitamin E, etc)
1/4c warm/hot water
2 tb vegetable glycerin (for extra moisturizer)
Few drops of 100% Pure Therapeutic Grade Essential Oil of choice. (I like Lavender b/c it is wonderful for the skin and it promotes relaxation...so perfect for before bed tub time!)
How: Combine all ingredients into a quart size mason jar (or any larger container with a lid)
Shake well! If you have a different glass container, just pour into after everything is
mixed. I like this tall one because the lid fits nice and snug. Oh and its cute to boot!
* If you choose to use coconut oil that is not fractioned (unable to solidify) just run the
bottle under hot water for a minute until it melts. Add soap to the bath water, or use on
cloth and rub over baby.
That's it!
6. For anyone who may be suffering with a tickle in the throat, or are feeling a cold coming on...this is a wonderful tea made up of natural ingredients to help fight it. You only need a few ingredients!
Ingred: 8 oz of hot water
1 drop of Lemon Essential oil
1 drop Thieves Essential oil
1 tsp raw honey
1 tsp raw apple cider vinegar
Combine all ingredients and consume as often as needed (or desired) to aid in boosting your immune system.
*I use Young Living Essential Oils as you know. I recommend using this brand should you choose to ingest any oils, and ONLY ingest oils that are labeled as safe to consume. Not all are. Please refer to Young Livings website for more information. REMEMBER I am not a doctor, I prefer to use natural remedies in my home at my own discretion. ALWAYS refer to your primary care physician if you have any health related questions.
7. I have had horrible headaches lately due to constant coughing from a cold going around our house. I am still nursing my 8 month old so there is not too much I can take orally, plus I just do not like to take medicine unless absolutely necessary. I turned to my essential oils and made a roll on for the pain. Its a blend of 3 oils and a carrier, and it certainly helps with the tension. Thought I'd share it here!
Here's the how to!
*10 drops Peppermint Essential Oil
*6 drops of Lavender Essential Oil
*5 drops Frankincense Essential Oil
10 ml Roller Bottle
*Combine oils into bottle and fill rest of the way with your carrier oil (I chose Grape seed, but any oil like Jojoba, or Fractionated Coconut, or 100% Pure Organic Olive Oil could work)
Give the bottle a few swirls, up and down and around...apply liberally to temples and/or back of neck to help ease tension in the head. If it does not help enough, feel free to add a drop or two more of the oils. (best to start with less and then add more if needed)
This is handy dandy to have on you at all times in case you need it!
8. DIY Peppermint Soap (link below is the recipe I followed...but tweaked)
http://livingwellmom.com/2015/11/peppermint-goat-milk-soap-recipe/
* I halved this recipe and made only six bars. However they were half the size of the mold when finished. So next time I will do the actual amounts listed but fill the molds to the top. It probably wont make 12, but will make more than six.
I do not own a microwave, so I made my own "double boiler" by putting a frying pan on top of a smaller pot that had boiling water inside. I put the cubes on the pan and stirred until they were all melted. It worked perfectly fine!
I also did not add the jojoba beads. I just swirled around some red food coloring for prettyness! Next time I make peppermint I plan on crushing up some peppermint candies and mixing them inside as the soap melts. These would make great gifts!!
